Installing PlasmaVis or AcidWax on Windows Vista

• To install PlasmaVis or Acidwax on on some Windows Vista systems, you may have to do the following.
  
  After you download and run the installer file, you may see the following error message. If you see this erorr message, follow the instructions on this page to finish the installation.
  
  
  
  

1.       Click on “Ignore” to allow the installation to finish.  (At this point, everything has installed properly, but the Windows Media Player needs to know the new plug-in exists.)

2.       Go to: Start / All Programs / Accessories
(Note that the “Start” button in Vista is no longer called “Start”, but is instead the Windows Vista logo in the lower left corner of the screen.)

3.       Right - click on "Command Prompt", and choose "Run as administrator".  This will open a “command prompt” window with administrator privileges needed to associate the visualizer plugin with Windows Media Player.

4.       Type this EXACTLY (and be sure to include the quotes and spaces.):

for PlasmaVis, type this:

Regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\Visualizations\Plasmavis.dll"

for AcidWax, type this:

Regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\Visualizations\AcidWax.dll"

5.       Press "Enter"

6.       If all is good, you should get a “success message that looks something like this:
